Dear El Verano Families,

Classroom Observation days are coming soon (February 23 to 27, 2009).

These days are for you to observe the classes of the grade your child will attend next school year, in order for you to better understand the behavior and academic expectations.

While you are here, I ask that you observe the following courtesies:

* Please find an unobtrusive place to sit in the rear of the classroom.
* Stay in any one classroom about 30 minutes.
* If more than two parents are already there, please return in 15 minutes or so when they will be gone.
* Please refrain from asking the teacher questions while he/she is teaching or supervising the class. If you have a question, please leave a note in the office and Linda will give it to the teacher, who will call you back at a convenient time.
* Please visit all the classes at a given grade level, so you see the broadest view of a given grade level.

Note that you are only seeing a snap shot of a full instructional program. This is not adequate to develop an understanding of what takes place in the classroom throughout the day and throughout the year.

When you sign out, you may pick up and complete a ‘Student Assignment Information’ form. This form may assist staff when composing next year’s classes. The form is not intended to be an opportunity to “pick” your child’s teacher. Teacher and grade level assignments are not known at his time, and will likely not be known until August. Classroom observations offer you the opportunity to see the students in class, working in their grade levels. I look forward to seeing you and please don’t hesitate to ask me any questions.

Sincerely,

Maite Iturri
